Payments and Membership
E2U's service fee, the two memberships, and how money moves.
Part of the Member Terms, version 10, published 22 October 2026. These are the same words, under their own heading.
E2U'S SERVICE FEE AND MEMBERSHIPS
E2U charges the Guest an E2U Service Fee in addition to the Guest Contribution. It is never taken out of what a Host receives.
The fee is charged on the part of a contribution for the route that was shared, and on a Guest's share of shared event costs. It is not charged on the part of a contribution that covers a Host going out of their way to collect or drop off that Guest, which reaches the Host in full.
E2U Flex: $0 monthly membership. When you join a Shared Trip as a Guest, E2U charges a 10% service fee in addition to your Guest Contribution. That fee is never less than $1 and never more than $5, whatever the percentage works out to.
E2U Unlimited: $24.99 per month. Members on Unlimited are not charged an E2U Service Fee on Shared Trips they join while the plan is active.
A Guest's membership plan does not change the Host's gross Guest Contribution.
$24.99/month. Renews automatically until canceled. Cancel anytime in your account. Cancellation stops future renewals.
You may change plan whenever you like, with one condition: once you move, 1 month has to pass on the new plan before you move again. Moving to Unlimited takes effect when it is paid for. Moving to Flex takes effect when the month you have already paid for ends, so you are never charged a membership and a service fee for the same period.
PAYMENT
E2U facilitates the payment between Members. It is not a party to the arrangement between a Host and a Guest. Card details are held by E2U's payment processor and not by E2U.
The card processor charges 2.9% of each payment plus $0.30. The Guest and the Host split it, half and half, and E2U carries none of it: out of every trip E2U keeps its service fee and nothing more.
E2U's own service fee is charged to the Guest in addition to their contribution and is never taken out of what a Host recovers.
Two consequences are worth saying plainly. The amount charged to a Guest's card includes the Guest's share of the processing cost, so it is slightly more than their contribution plus the service fee. And what reaches a Host is their contribution less the Host's share of that cost, so it is always less than the part of the drive the contribution was worked out from.
