Member Terms
The agreement every member accepts. Everything below is part of it.
Version 10, published 22 October 2026. This is the wording members accept, and acceptance is recorded against this version and the time it was given.
E2U Ride Member Terms.
WHAT E2U RIDE IS
E2U Ride is a peer to peer carpooling and shared trip technology platform. A Member may act as a Host when the Member is already planning to travel in a stated direction, or as a Guest when the Member seeks to join a compatible portion of another Member's trip. E2U provides technology for matching, routing, communications, payment facilitation, verification and safety features. E2U does not itself drive vehicles or employ Hosts.
These Terms describe how E2U operates. They do not determine how E2U, a Member or a Shared Trip may be classified under applicable law. Availability and requirements may differ by jurisdiction.
WHO MAY BE A MEMBER
You must be at least 21 years old to hold an E2U Ride membership, and you confirm your age when you create your account. This applies to every Member, whether they travel as a Host or as a Guest. E2U may suspend or end a membership held by anyone who does not meet this requirement.
ONE MEMBERSHIP
E2U Ride is one account. There is no rider account and no driver account, and nobody is permanently either. The same membership lets you share a trip you are already making and lets you travel on somebody else's. These Terms apply to you in both.
You choose which you are, trip by trip. Hosting requires a car on your account and the documents in Host Requirements below. Traveling as a Guest requires the same identity checks as every other Member, and nothing further.
THE HOST'S TRIP EXISTS INDEPENDENTLY
By posting as a Host, you represent that you independently intend to travel in the direction and at approximately the time you post, whether or not a Guest joins you. A Guest's request does not require you to create a trip, change your ultimate destination, or undertake transportation that you were not otherwise planning to make. Hosts choose whether to accept a match and may set reasonable limits on pickup and drop off deviation.
A Host sets their own origin, their own destination and their own departure time, and keeps them. A Guest does not choose where a Host is going. Matches that would take a Host further out of their way than they have allowed are never shown to them. A Host may decline any request, for any reason or none, and declining costs them nothing.
THE GUEST CONTRIBUTION
A Guest Contribution is intended to help offset eligible costs associated with a Shared Trip. It is not calculated as compensation for a Host's labor or time. E2U may calculate a contribution using factors such as route distance, an applicable vehicle cost benchmark, the portion of the route shared, the number of people sharing a segment, Guest caused additional mileage, tolls, parking or access charges, and other approved incremental trip costs.
E2U establishes the maximum contribution available through the platform. A Host may accept a lower contribution but may not increase it above the E2U calculated maximum. Total Host recovery through E2U is designed not to exceed the applicable estimated costs of the Shared Trip.
No Member sets a price, and no Member bids. The software will not accept a contribution above the calculated maximum.
ADDITIONAL TIME, AND WHY IT IS NOT PAID FOR
Additional time is used to determine route compatibility and whether a Host wishes to accept a deviation. E2U does not separately compensate Hosts for their time. Eligible additional vehicle costs caused by a Guest's requested pickup or drop off may be included in the Guest Contribution.
SHARED COSTS AT AN EVENT
A Shared Trip may be posted to an event: a game, a concert, a service, a convention, an airport. Where E2U makes the feature available, the Members who travel together in one vehicle may share eligible costs of getting there that the Host pays on behalf of the vehicle, such as parking, a toll paid on the way in, or a venue access charge.
How it works. A shared event cost belongs to the whole outing and is divided once, among the people who were actually in the vehicle, the Host included. The Host carries their own share of it and recovers only the shares of the other occupants. Where a Host travels to an event and back, the cost is divided once for the outing and is never charged again because a return trip exists.
A Host may state a known price before Guests join, in which case that figure is shown to a Guest before they agree to anything. A Host may instead record what they actually paid, in which case the Guest is told in advance that the cost will be the actual cost, and above an amount E2U publishes the Host must provide a receipt before any Guest is charged a share. E2U may set a maximum for a single shared event cost.
A Guest is never charged a share of a cost that was not divided, and the share appears on the Guest's receipt as its own line, separate from the route contribution.
WHAT YOU ARE COMMITTED TO BEFORE A TRIP
Before you join a Shared Trip you are shown an estimated maximum contribution. Your final contribution may be lower, and often will be, because when more people share the same part of a route everybody's share of it falls. Your final contribution will not be higher than the figure you were shown unless the route changes and you agree to the change.
NO GUARANTEE OF A MATCH
E2U does not guarantee that anybody will be heading your way, that a Host will accept you, that a Guest will join your trip, or that any Shared Trip will take place. A posted trip and an open ask are both requests, not bookings.
ROUTE CHANGES AND CANCELLATION
A Host may cancel a Shared Trip and a Guest may step off one. Everybody on a cancelled trip is told. If a trip is cancelled before it begins, no contribution is due. If a route changes during a trip, your contribution is worked out from the journey that actually happened, subject to the maximum you were shown.
CANCELLATION, NO SHOWS AND A TRIP THAT ENDS EARLY
There is no cancellation fee on E2U, on either side, at any time. Where a contribution was held against your card and the trip does not happen, the hold is released in full.
That does not mean cancelling is free of consequence. A pattern of cancelling or of not arriving is recorded on your account and is shown to the Members you ask to travel with, and repeated ones are grounds to end a membership under the Community Rules.
BEFORE A TRIP BEGINS. Nothing is due from anybody, whoever cancelled and for whatever reason.
A GUEST WHO DOES NOT ARRIVE. No money moves in either direction. The Host is not paid and the Guest is not charged. The Guest is recorded as not having arrived.
A GUEST WHO STEPS OFF AFTER THE TRIP HAS BEGUN. The Guest Contribution they agreed to is charged in full. Their Host rearranged their own journey to carry them, and had already begun making it. It is never more than the maximum that Guest was shown before confirming.
A TRIP THE HOST ENDS EARLY, OR THAT A BREAKDOWN OR AN EMERGENCY ENDS. Each Guest is charged only for the part of the journey actually shared with them, worked out from the distance actually traveled together, and never more than the maximum they were shown. A Guest who had not been collected is charged nothing. Where E2U cannot establish the distance actually traveled, that Guest is charged nothing: E2U does not estimate a distance in order to charge somebody for it.
COSTS THAT ARISE DURING A TRIP. A toll, parking charge or other cost on the route everybody is sharing is shared between everybody in the vehicle. A cost caused only by one Guest's own pickup or drop off is carried by that Guest alone. All of it is capped by the maximum that Guest agreed to before confirming, and anything above that maximum is not charged to them.
ANOTHER GUEST JOINING. If somebody else joins the same part of the route, every Guest's share of it falls and every Guest is charged the lower figure. It never moves the other way.
E2U'S SERVICE FEE AND MEMBERSHIPS
E2U charges the Guest an E2U Service Fee in addition to the Guest Contribution. It is never taken out of what a Host receives.
The fee is charged on the part of a contribution for the route that was shared, and on a Guest's share of shared event costs. It is not charged on the part of a contribution that covers a Host going out of their way to collect or drop off that Guest, which reaches the Host in full.
E2U Flex: $0 monthly membership. When you join a Shared Trip as a Guest, E2U charges a 10% service fee in addition to your Guest Contribution. That fee is never less than $1 and never more than $5, whatever the percentage works out to.
E2U Unlimited: $24.99 per month. Members on Unlimited are not charged an E2U Service Fee on Shared Trips they join while the plan is active.
A Guest's membership plan does not change the Host's gross Guest Contribution.
$24.99/month. Renews automatically until canceled. Cancel anytime in your account. Cancellation stops future renewals.
You may change plan whenever you like, with one condition: once you move, 1 month has to pass on the new plan before you move again. Moving to Unlimited takes effect when it is paid for. Moving to Flex takes effect when the month you have already paid for ends, so you are never charged a membership and a service fee for the same period.
PAYMENT
E2U facilitates the payment between Members. It is not a party to the arrangement between a Host and a Guest. Card details are held by E2U's payment processor and not by E2U.
The card processor charges 2.9% of each payment plus $0.30. The Guest and the Host split it, half and half, and E2U carries none of it: out of every trip E2U keeps its service fee and nothing more.
E2U's own service fee is charged to the Guest in addition to their contribution and is never taken out of what a Host recovers.
Two consequences are worth saying plainly. The amount charged to a Guest's card includes the Guest's share of the processing cost, so it is slightly more than their contribution plus the service fee. And what reaches a Host is their contribution less the Host's share of that cost, so it is always less than the part of the drive the contribution was worked out from.
WHAT EVERY MEMBER MUST HAVE
Before a Member can host a Shared Trip or join one, E2U reviews and approves all three of the following:
a photograph of the Member's own face, which the people they share a car with see before they agree to travel with them, and that is the point of it, a government issued photo identification document, and a photograph of the Member holding that same document, so that the document and the face on the account can be checked against each other.
This applies to every Member. Traveling as a Guest is not exempt from it: everybody in the car has been identified, the person driving and the people traveling with them.
HOST REQUIREMENTS
Hosts must maintain all driver licensing, vehicle registration and motor vehicle insurance required by applicable law. A Host is responsible for confirming with the Host's insurer whether the policy permits the Host's intended carpooling or cost sharing activity. E2U's review of an insurance document verifies only the information E2U states it has verified and is not a determination of insurance coverage for any particular loss or trip.
Before a Shared Trip can be posted, a Host provides all of the following and E2U reviews each one:
a valid driver's license, uploaded as a photograph or a PDF, which also serves as the government issued photo identification required of every Member, so a Host is never asked for a second document, a photograph of the Host holding that same license, so that the license and the face on the account can be checked against each other, current registration for the vehicle they are hosting in, and the insurance their jurisdiction requires of them.
A background check, a driving record check and enhanced insurance verification are not required to host. They are shown as badges on a Member's profile when they are completed.
VERIFICATION, AND WHAT IT DOES NOT MEAN
Verification badges indicate that a specified check or document was completed or reviewed as of the date shown. Verification does not guarantee a Member's identity in every circumstance, future conduct, driving ability, insurance coverage or safety. Members should continue to use reasonable judgment when deciding whether to share a trip.
MATCHING PREFERENCES
E2U may offer optional preference based matching features, including Women Only matching, where E2U determines the feature is legally and operationally available. Such preferences affect matching only and are not publicly displayed as profile information except as E2U expressly explains to the Member.
HOW E2U IS INTENDED TO BE USED
E2U is designed for Members sharing trips and directions they independently plan to make.
You may not use E2U to make journeys for the purpose of collecting contributions, to arrange payment outside E2U in order to work around the limits above, or to operate E2U as an on demand transportation service. Doing any of these ends your membership.
ACCEPTABLE USE AND SAFETY
The Community Rules set out what is expected of every Member and form part of these Terms. In summary: do not carry more people than the vehicle is built to seat, do not ask another Member to break the law, do not bring prohibited items, wear a seatbelt, and a Host who has been drinking does not drive. Report anything that made you unsafe and E2U will act on it, including by removing a Member.
Members may message each other about a Shared Trip through E2U. Those messages are kept.
RATINGS AND REVIEWS
After a Shared Trip both Members may review each other. Neither review is shown until both are in or the review window has passed, so that nobody writes in reaction to what was written about them. Reviews must be about the trip. E2U may remove a review that is not.
SUSPENSION AND ENDING YOUR MEMBERSHIP
E2U may suspend or end a membership for unsafe conduct, for fraud, for attempting to recover more than a Shared Trip cost, for use outside what these Terms describe, or for conduct that puts another Member at risk. You may end yours at any time in the app or at e2uride.com/account/delete.
When you delete your account, E2U will delete or de identify personal data that it no longer needs, subject to applicable law. Certain information may be retained where reasonably necessary for payment and tax records, fraud prevention, security, legal claims, regulatory obligations, safety investigations, emergency incidents and audit records. Information retained for these purposes will not be used for unrelated purposes. The Privacy Notice sets out how long each kind of record is kept.
WHERE E2U RIDE IS AVAILABLE
Shared trip availability depends on location, applicable law and E2U's current service availability. E2U may limit posting, matching, payment or trip completion in particular jurisdictions.
DISPUTES
Tell E2U first. Most disagreements about a contribution are answered by the receipt, which shows every line separately. Write to info@e2uride.com and E2U will look at the trip record.
CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
When these Terms change, E2U publishes a new version and asks you to accept it. Your acceptance is recorded with the version and the time, so there is always a record of what you were shown.
