Host Requirements

What E2U asks of anybody before they can share a trip they are driving.

Part of the Member Terms, version 10, published 22 October 2026. These are the same words, under their own heading.

WHAT EVERY MEMBER MUST HAVE

Before a Member can host a Shared Trip or join one, E2U reviews and approves all three of the following:

a photograph of the Member's own face, which the people they share a car with see before they agree to travel with them, and that is the point of it, a government issued photo identification document, and a photograph of the Member holding that same document, so that the document and the face on the account can be checked against each other.

This applies to every Member. Traveling as a Guest is not exempt from it: everybody in the car has been identified, the person driving and the people traveling with them.

HOST REQUIREMENTS

Hosts must maintain all driver licensing, vehicle registration and motor vehicle insurance required by applicable law. A Host is responsible for confirming with the Host's insurer whether the policy permits the Host's intended carpooling or cost sharing activity. E2U's review of an insurance document verifies only the information E2U states it has verified and is not a determination of insurance coverage for any particular loss or trip.

Before a Shared Trip can be posted, a Host provides all of the following and E2U reviews each one:

a valid driver's license, uploaded as a photograph or a PDF, which also serves as the government issued photo identification required of every Member, so a Host is never asked for a second document, a photograph of the Host holding that same license, so that the license and the face on the account can be checked against each other, current registration for the vehicle they are hosting in, and the insurance their jurisdiction requires of them.

A background check, a driving record check and enhanced insurance verification are not required to host. They are shown as badges on a Member's profile when they are completed.

VERIFICATION, AND WHAT IT DOES NOT MEAN

Verification badges indicate that a specified check or document was completed or reviewed as of the date shown. Verification does not guarantee a Member's identity in every circumstance, future conduct, driving ability, insurance coverage or safety. Members should continue to use reasonable judgment when deciding whether to share a trip.
